After the adventurous 2006 freshman release of A Favor to the Muse and 2009s lush opus A Miraculous Container, MANDRAKE PROJECT has returned with its latest and most accessible release yet,Transitions. The title couldnt be more fitting. Almost immediately after the release of A Miraculous Container, the band continued studio work sporadically until the spring of 2010. Kirk Salopek explains: "A short meeting with Steven Wilson (Porcupine Tree) provided the band with an introduction to Rob Palmen who manages acts like Riverside and was having plans to start Glassville Records along with acts like Paatos and Sun Domingo. Mandrake Project was initially slated to release a 6-song EP. That idea expanded into finishing a new full-length record using individual song ideas from each member, much in the spirit of Ummagumma. " The result is a multi-dimensional experience drawing from all sides of the bands catalogue utilizing influences as diverse as David Bowie, Peter Gabriel, Elbow, 10cc, Sigur Ros and The Arcade Fire.
