After the EP Tundra (2008) and Full-Length EOS (2010), Estonian duo Talbot delivers another epic and heavy-as-fuck piece of work with Scaled. Released in april 2013, the band takes you to their deep and dark world of heavy riffs. When listening to the opening track Spectral Express, the first thing I notice is the incredible (bass) guitar sound. It's so dark, low and fat that it almost scares you. It's easy to make a link to heavy duos such as Sardonis and Black Cobra, but quite fast it becomes clear that Talbot distinguish themselves with their own brand of heaviness. The music is layered, with all sorts of effects that make it sound massive, atmospheric and sometimes spacey. If I wouldn't know Talbot was a duo, I'd say I'm listening to a complete band. I'm curious how they bring this stuff on stage, never got a chance to see them play live unfortunately.
