Aborted's third album, sub-titled The Saw And The Carnage Done, lives up to its gory name. The Belgian butchers are above average in their chosen genre. The music, riffs and rhythms are substantial, the obligatory movie samples are kept to a minimum and no extraneous influences can be detected throughout the album. Aborted has the vocals of Per formerly of Deranged, coupled with the usual higher screeches, the blast of Napalm Death and certainly the tonality of Carcass. It is also quite clear that the music functions better during the faster parts, which appropriately constitute the majority of the material. A well-versed guitarist and a full sound just add to the cause. On top of that the band and label have included a cool video clip of the band on the CD as well. Watch for the Arch Enemy-inspired solo on the filmed song Meticulous Invagination as well. What else can one demand from the genre? Remastered with 3 bonus tracks.
